The wind shifted as a new calm descended
Walking the winding road from the beach
The onset of calm somehow turned to chill in the air
The evening falling into night
Sky now becoming a dark azure colour
Lit only by a sliver of moon
Breath becoming visible indicated
Continued drop in temperature
Peace was palpable
The only sound, the scuff of feet
On lightly gravelled road
Minding his own business he sauntered on
Until a rustle in nearby hedging got his attention
Stopping, he stood stock still
Suddenly a fox cub emerged
Shot across the road into a nearby field
He, drew a deep breath amazed at its beauty
The sleekness of it coat, the fact it never glanced
On way or the other
He dug his hands deeper into his pockets and moved on.
Shortly after he heard the screech of brakes.

Yikes!! Don’t know if I’m more worried about the fox or the driver. I think the fox.
