Another of life’s twists and turns.

Deep into the forest he took himself

To his favourite haunt

There’ took his seat on the carved out tree stump

Just the rustling of trees to disturb his thoughts.

Serious issues he was capable of dealing with

It was those trivial issues that really upset him

It was something about nothing, in his opinion

That is where it all began to unravel

He wanted a break from the relationship

Too intense he told her

Yes we can stay in touch, on a more casual basis

She was most unhappy, all or nothing

Take it or leave it.

They had met just a few short months before

Barely time to get to know each other

They both had come through long term relationships

He in his wisdom thought he knew her

Obviously not.

He laughed jokingly at her demand

She, turned on her heel left him standing alone

Life’s twists and turns

Perhaps it is all for the best he thought.

In the gentle breeze, his nostrils expanded

As the aroma of her freshly showered body

Enveloped him

Instantly he knew what he had to do

Raising himself from his seated position

Walked slowly to the nearby tree, struck the match

Set alight the rope

Watched in silence as it burned.
